[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] On the 19th, SK C&C held the '2020 Happy IT Scholarship Award Ceremony' at its Bundang office in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, for disabled youth aspiring to become IT professionals.

Marking its 16th year, the event was attended by SK C&C executives and officials from the Korea Disabled Rehabilitation Association, who congratulated and encouraged the students selected as 'SK C&C Happy IT Scholars.'

SK C&C awarded scholarships totaling 105 million KRW to 47 recipients, including 3 high school students, 34 university and graduate students, and 10 'Seed 2.0' scholars. Seed is an IT professional training and employment support program for the disabled operated by SK C&C.

The Happy IT Scholars were selected through a first-round document screening and an evaluation by a selection committee composed of external experts, from among students who applied after seeing the announcement by the Korea Disabled Rehabilitation Association. The committee evaluated applicants based on their dreams, efforts for self-development, and career plans to select the scholars.

Ahn Seok-ho, head of the SK C&C Happiness Promotion Center, said, "Supporting students who do not stop challenging themselves to achieve their dreams of becoming IT professionals despite difficult circumstances adds meaning to our happiness management."

Kim Ji-woo (19), a university student selected as a Happy IT Scholar, said, "I will study specialized digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data diligently to become a talent who creates a happy society through digital means."

Meanwhile, SK C&C has raised a total of 1.21877 billion KRW since 2005 to support 862 Happy IT Scholars.
