Pearl Abyss Faces Controversy Over 'Same-Day Recommended Resignation' for Employees (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Pearl Abyss, the developer of the game 'Black Desert,' has been embroiled in controversy over allegedly notifying employees of 'same-day recommended resignation.'
A, who received a recommended resignation notice from the company last week, stated in an interview with Asia Economy on the 18th, "The moment the recommended resignation is decided, you get called," and claimed, "About 10 people were fired on the same day each week."
He said, "I don't know the specific reasons, but mainly it's things like 'not aligning with the company's direction or talent standards,'" adding, "Since last year, I've consistently seen about 10 people leaving each week."
A said, "I know you don't have to sign the recommended resignation documents, but since the industry is small, it's hard to refuse because it might cause harm when changing jobs," and added, "Although they say they provide one month's salary as consolation pay, I've seen colleagues struggling because they had no time to prepare."
Posts related to this issue continue on the employee community Blind. Claims such as "I saw someone come to work in the morning and get fired in the afternoon" and "This is not a contract or dispatch job, but a company that cuts regular employees without any threshold" have been raised.
Pearl Abyss stated, "The rumors of mass recommended resignations are not true, and in cases of recommended resignation, formal procedures are being followed," and added, "We plan to actively review and improve internal processes regarding this issue."
Founded in 2010 by Chairman Kim Dae-il, Pearl Abyss established its position with the global success of 'Black Desert' and 'Black Desert Mobile.' Pearl Abyss achieved sales of 538.9 billion KRW and operating profit of 153.8 billion KRW last year.
