US Embassy in Korea "Visa Services Suspended in Travel Alert Level 2, 3, and 4 Countries"
Regular immigrant and non-immigrant interview schedules canceled from the 19th
No impact on the Visa Waiver Program
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The U.S. Embassy in Korea announced on the 18th that it will suspend regular visa services starting from the 19th.
The U.S. Embassy in Korea explained, "In response to the global challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the U.S. Department of State is suspending visa services in countries where travel alerts at levels 2, 3, or 4 have been issued."
The U.S. Department of State has previously issued a Level 3 travel alert, advising to "reconsider travel" to South Korea, and a Level 4 alert, "do not travel," specifically for the Daegu region.
Accordingly, the U.S. Embassy in Korea has canceled regular interview appointments for immigrant and non-immigrant visa issuance starting from the 19th. However, this measure does not affect the Visa Waiver Program.
