Earlier, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, at the '1st Employment Policy Deliberation Committee of 2020' held on the 9th, reviewed and resolved to extend the designation period of nine employment crisis areas, including Jinhae-gu in Changwon City, Gyeongnam Province, Geoje City, Tongyeong City, Goseong County, Dong-gu in Ulsan, Gunsan City in Jeonbuk, and Mokpo City, Yeongam County, and Haenam County in Jeonnam, until the end of this year due to the 'double hardship' caused by difficulties in the shipbuilding and manufacturing industries and employment uncertainties from the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Accordingly, these nine employment and industrial crisis areas prepared a Hope Work budget plan worth 75.5 billion KRW and submitted it to the National Assembly to alleviate citizens' livelihood instability caused by the spread of COVID-19 and to revitalize the regional economy.
