US Billboard Music Awards 'Postponed'... Due to COVID-19 Impact
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] The 'Billboard Music Awards,' one of the three major music award ceremonies in the United States, has been postponed due to the impact of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
Production company Dick Clark Productions and the American NBC network announced on the 17th (local time) that "the Billboard Music Awards, originally scheduled to be held on the 29th of next month (local time) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, USA, will be postponed."
They stated, "We have decided to postpone the awards ceremony to comply with guidelines from central and local health authorities and to protect the health of artists, fans, guests, and staff," adding, "The new venue and date will be announced soon."
The 'Billboard Music Awards,' which are based on the U.S. music chart 'Billboard Chart,' are considered one of the three major music award ceremonies in the United States along with the 'American Music Awards' and the 'Grammy Awards.' Recently, the idol group Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS) became the first Korean artist to win the award for three consecutive years.
