[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kim Beom-su, chairman of Kakao, emphasized on the 18th, marking the 10th anniversary of the launch of KakaoTalk, that "we must prepare for the next 10 years for Season 2."
In a video message sent to Kakao employees that day, Chairman Kim said, "I think the past 10 years have been Season 1 of Kakao," adding, "We must continue to develop the culture of 'Kakao-ness' in line with the company's growth and respond to another wave of change beyond the mobile lifestyle platform."
He continued, "We need to be alert to the overwhelming scale of global IT companies and find our path ahead in another decade where opportunities and crises coexist," and added, "In Season 2, I want to say that our unique culture and concerns about the next business should also include our role as agents in solving social problems."
Chairman Kim expressed, "I have previously stated the opinion that companies can be the most efficient organizations to solve social problems," and urged, "I hope you take an interest in solving many social issues where people are struggling, one by one, through rapidly advancing technology and our own problem-solving methods."
He went on to say, "The 10th anniversary may be 'already' for some, but for me, it is still 'not yet,'" and stated, "Kakao still has so many things it wants to do, can do, and must do."
