Gyeonggi-do to Provide Vast Amounts of Public and Private Data Services Starting April
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will provide a vast amount of public and private data to Gyeonggi residents starting in April.
On the 18th, Gyeonggi Province announced that it held the 'Gyeonggi Data Analysis Platform Completion Report Meeting' at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office in Suwon with the service contractors and supervision companies.
The data analysis platform has been under development since last September to improve the quality of life for residents through efficient use of information resources and big data-based scientific administration.
This platform collects over 3,000 public and private data sets such as floating population, sales, water resources, and weather, storing them in an 'integrated repository' and categorizing them into nine areas: family welfare and health, tourism, culture and sports, education and employment, transportation, construction and environment, agriculture, forestry, livestock and marine, urban housing, industrial economy, fire disaster safety, and taxation, legal affairs and administration, enabling systematic analysis and management.
In particular, a data analysis portal has been established so that residents and public officials can search for and utilize the data they need at any time.
Additionally, any resident can search and use data by sector for analysis. For example, useful information such as tourist information for the western Gyeonggi and Grand tourist sites, and farmland drought information can be obtained.
Furthermore, a 'Data Analysis Center' will be set up in Pangyo, where any resident can visit to use various data analysis tools (R, R-Studio, Python, Tableau, Auto ML, etc.) and receive expert assistance.
The data analysis platform is scheduled for pilot operation this month and official opening next month.
After the project is completed, the province plans to develop the platform further to support policy-making in transportation, economy, and construction by adding features such as identifying suspected paper companies in the construction industry and analyzing local currency usage rates.
