Gong Byeong-ho "Five revisions are a bit too many, one person is enough... Yoo Young-ha unanimously rejected"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Gong Byung-ho, the head of the Future Korea Party's nomination committee, emphasized principles regarding the revision of the candidate list, indicating that "five (revisions) is a bit too many." He also announced that it was decided unanimously not to nominate Yoo Young-ha, a close aide of former President Park Geun-hye.
On the 18th, Gong appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and responded to Future Korea Party leader Han Sun-kyo's comment that about five people might request a re-examination by saying, "Five is a bit too many."
Previously, the candidate list announced by the Future Korea Party saw talents recommended by the United Future Party pushed outside the top 20 electable ranks, with most of the United Future Party's demands not being accepted. While the United Future Party is demanding a complete revision of the candidate list, Gong stated, "Then it would be difficult to persuade the public," adding, "Whether it's one, two, three, or five people, the most important thing now is not to compromise on principles."
He expressed the position that re-examination would be difficult unless there were reasons equivalent to legal violations. Gong said, "Disqualification reasons are almost cases equivalent to legal violations that lead to expulsion, so five is a bit difficult," adding, "I recognize that there is one person whom we clearly missed." The one person Gong referred to appears to be Yoon Joo-kyung, the eldest daughter of independence activist Yoon Bong-gil and former director of the Independence Hall.
Regarding the nomination rationale, Gong said, "The direction of Future Korea Party's nominations this time was to place forward those who are somewhat aggressive, young, and combative because the opposition party has not been fighting well in the National Assembly," adding, "We do not view the current situation and the upcoming situation as peaceful times but define it as a wartime or war situation."
He said, "There are right-wing YouTubers and people with strong logic and speech who have long been active in social civic groups without personal acquaintance," adding, "This relates to the overall direction of the nominations and does not mean that the talents sent by the United Future Party lack ability."

The Future Korea Party's nomination committee also reviewed lawyer Yoo but ultimately did not include him on the proportional representation list. Gong said, "Although Yoo was involved in issues causing national division, we decided to give him a fairer chance and proceeded with the review process treating him as a private citizen," adding, "During the review, there were comments like 'As a citizen, I am grateful for the role he has played as a messenger for President Park Geun-hye,' but it was unanimously decided not to include him."
