Gwanak-gu, Resident Participation Budget Project Contest
2020 Resident Participation Budget Projects Open for Submission Until May 31, Open to All Gwanak Residents... Calling for Innovative Ideas from Residents to Improve Local Inconveniences and Enhance Resident Convenience
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) is accepting applications for the "Resident Participatory Budget Project Contest" for the 2021 resident participatory budget formulation.
The "Resident Participatory Budget System" is a system where residents directly propose and review projects to participate in the budget formulation process. This year, the district has increased the budget scale by 200 million KRW to a total of 1.7 billion KRW to revitalize the resident participatory budget system.
The application period is from March 18 to May 31, and anyone who is a resident of Gwanak-gu can propose projects. Workers, students, or organizations located in Gwanak-gu can also apply.
The contest fields include ▲resident safety ▲local economic revitalization ▲support for socially vulnerable groups, focusing on projects that benefit many people and are closely related to residents' convenience and daily life. However, projects must be for a single fiscal year, and projects supporting specific individuals or specific organizations are excluded.
The resident participatory budget is operated in two categories: district-proposed projects and neighborhood projects. District-proposed projects covering two or more neighborhoods can propose up to 200 million KRW, while neighborhood projects covering one neighborhood can propose up to 10 million KRW.
Submitted project proposals will be reviewed by the Resident Participatory Budget Committee and neighborhood meetings, and then deliberated and approved by the district council to be reflected in the 2021 budget.
Residents who wish to participate can register directly through the district website (Online Gwanak Office → Resident Participatory Budget → Project Proposal), or apply by visiting, faxing, mailing, or emailing (sweettr@ga.go.kr) to each neighborhood community center or the district office's Public-Private Cooperation Division.
Last year, the district selected a total of 48 projects through the resident participatory budget, including ▲safe school route maintenance ▲facilities improvement for the disabled ▲youth career education, and allocated a budget of 1.497 billion KRW to carry out these projects.
