Geng Shuang, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, criticized at a regular briefing on the 17th, saying, "Recently, some U.S. policies have mentioned a connection between COVID-19 and China," adding, "This is stigmatizing China." He continued, "We urge an immediate correction of this mistake," and "We hope the baseless accusations against China will stop immediately."
