Preliminary Candidate Lee Gang-rae Appointed as Standing Election Committee Chairman of Jeonbuk Provincial Party
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Lee Kang-rae, the preliminary candidate for Namwon·Imsil·Sunchang of the Democratic Party of Korea, has been appointed as the Standing Election Countermeasures Committee Chairman of the Jeonbuk Provincial Party.
The Democratic Party of Korea Central Party held a Supreme Council meeting on the 16th and approved and resolved the formation of the Jeonbuk Provincial Party Election Countermeasures Committee for the April 15 general election.
The provincial party election committee formed a winning election countermeasures committee consisting of about 150 members, including co-standing election countermeasures chairmen, an advisory group, a special advisory group, a spokesperson office, and an election countermeasures headquarters.
Preliminary candidate Lee Kang-rae was appointed as the standing election countermeasures chairman along with Ahn Ho-young, the provincial party chairman, and will oversee and direct the Democratic Party of Korea's Jeonbuk election.
Lee's appointment as standing election countermeasures chairman appears to actively reflect the seriousness of the absence of senior members in the ruling party, as he is the only senior among the Democratic Party's general election candidates.
He is a three-term member of the National Assembly and was appointed as the first public institution head under the Moon Jae-in administration, maintaining a close relationship with key figures of the current government. The strategy is interpreted as breaking through with Lee's political skills and experience against opposition candidates centered on multiple-term members.
