Paybook QR Payment Available Even at Military PX
'Paybook QR Payment' Service Applied at Military Base PX
Soldiers Can Use It After Installing BC Card's Easy Payment App 'Paybook' on Smartphones
and Registering IBK Nara Sarang Card
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] An era has opened where military personnel can use the base commissary (PX) with just their smartphones.
On the 17th, BC Card announced that it will apply the Paybook QR payment service to PXs within domestic Army, Navy, and Air Force bases in collaboration with IBK Industrial Bank and the Armed Forces Welfare Agency.
Previously, BC Card had been promoting the application of QR payment services so that soldiers could use PXs without cash or physical cards, as smartphone usage within bases became more active. Currently, a pilot operation is underway focusing on some PXs. BC Card plans to apply the service to all 2,200 PXs through continuous service enhancement and infrastructure maintenance.
The usage method is simple. Soldiers install BC Card’s simple payment application (app), Paybook, on their smartphones and register their IBK Nara Sarang Card. In addition to the IBK Nara Sarang Card, existing BC Cards can also be used.
Then, in Paybook, users select the BC Card they want to pay with, such as the IBK Nara Sarang Card, and generate a QR code. Scanning the generated QR code with the reader installed at the PX checkout completes the payment.
Not only soldiers but also officers, non-commissioned officers, and civilians visiting the base can make QR payments if they have the Paybook app installed on their smartphones.
BC Card has prepared various benefits for soldiers using the QR payment service. Until the 15th of next month, soldiers using the Paybook QR payment service at PX for the first time will receive a 50% cashback benefit (once during the period, up to 2,000 KRW). Additionally, until April 30th, a 500 KRW cashback benefit will be provided once per day for QR payments of 3,000 KRW or more.
If a soldier makes payments of 3,000 KRW or more per transaction via Paybook QR payment for a month, they can receive up to 17,500 KRW cashback (based on 31 days in a month).
