Warm Donations Continue in Dongjak-gu, Seoul to Overcome COVID-19

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] In Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Chang-woo), residents' donations continue to overcome the crisis of the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the local community together.
On the 11th, 300,000 won in cash along with a letter was delivered to the Shindaebang 2-dong Community Service Center. The donor is Ms. Lee (76, female), a single elderly person receiving a basic pension who usually receives support supplies and side dishes from the community center and the Korean Red Cross.
Ms. Lee told the community center staff, "I have saved the basic pension I received so far," and expressed her wish, "I want to help patients, medical staff, and volunteer organizations in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas who are suffering due to COVID-19."
On the 12th, a resident anonymously donated 300,000 won in cash to the Sangdo 3-dong Community Service Center, asking that it be used to help neighbors suffering from COVID-19.
The community center deposited the donations into the Community Chest of Korea so that the funds could be used where the donors wished.
On the 13th, Park Ki-hyun, the owner of Babos Chicken Soongsil University branch, a small business owner in the area, donated 500 KF94 masks to the Sangdo 1-dong Community Service Center.
The masks will be distributed through the community center to 35 vulnerable people, including low-income patients undergoing dialysis and kidney or liver transplant patients, with 14 masks each.
Additionally, Mr. Park plans to continuously donate 50 chickens monthly and purchase masks with 10% of his sales for single-parent families and vulnerable groups until the COVID-19 situation ends.
On the same day afternoon, 80 eco-friendly lunch boxes were delivered to the Dongjak-gu Public Health Center. Kim Dae-sik, chairman of the cooperative ‘Jipbap Chef,’ a preliminary social enterprise, prepared these for the staff at Dongjak-gu Public Health Center who are responding to COVID-19 on the front lines for the safety of residents. Mr. Kim plans to deliver an additional 240 lunch boxes in the future.
