70% of Japanese Citizens Say "Tokyo Olympics Difficult to Hold as Scheduled"
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] A survey found that 7 out of 10 Japanese citizens believe it will be difficult to hold the Tokyo Olympics scheduled for July as planned.
On the 16th, Japan's Kyodo News reported that a telephone poll conducted from the 14th to the 16th with 1,032 voters nationwide showed that 69.9% answered "cannot" to the question, "Can the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics be held as scheduled?"
On the other hand, only 24.5% responded that the event could be held as planned.
Regarding the Japanese government's response to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), 48.3% gave a positive evaluation, while 44.3% gave a negative evaluation.
Support for the Shinzo Abe Cabinet was 49.7%, an increase of 8.7 percentage points compared to the February poll, and 38.1% responded that they do not support it.
