Gwangju Buk-gu Accelerates Efforts to Create a Vibrant Workplace for Local Labor-Management Stability
Promotion of the 'Local Labor-Management-Government-Civil Cooperation Revitalization Project'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Moon In) is accelerating efforts to create a vibrant workplace through the stabilization of local labor-management relations.
Buk-gu announced on the 16th that it will promote the ‘2020 Local Labor-Management-Government-Civil Cooperation Activation Project’ starting next month.
Prior to this project, the district was selected in the public contest for the ‘2020 Local Labor-Management-Government-Civil Cooperation Activation Support Project’ hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, securing the largest national funding of 31 million KRW among autonomous districts in Gwangju.
This year, it will focus on 15 detailed tasks in four major areas: ▲Protection of youth labor rights ▲Labor-management win-win workplace innovation ▲Protection of vulnerable workers ▲Building partnerships in the Labor-Management-Government-Civil Council.
First, to spread consensus on protecting youth labor rights and improving working conditions, programs such as ‘Visiting Labor School’ for middle and high school students and the ‘Youth Touch-Touch Concert’ inviting university students will be operated.
Through the reorganization of subcommittees of the Labor-Management-Government-Civil Council, a Workplace Innovation Subcommittee will be newly established, focusing on establishing a culture of labor-management coexistence through initiatives such as the ‘Labor-Management Workplace Innovation Relay Campaign’ and the ‘Workplace Innovation Model Company Desk Calendar Production.’
To protect vulnerable workers such as non-regular and foreign workers, plans include ‘Visiting Labor Consultation Desk,’ ‘Worker Industrial Safety and Disaster Education,’ ‘Labor Law Education for Market Merchants and Small Business Owners,’ and ‘Foreign Worker Health Measurement Day.’
By establishing a central cooperation system centered on the Labor-Management-Government-Civil Council, it will discover employment and labor issues such as labor-management coexistence, job creation, and support for small and medium enterprises and small business owners, and propose development plans.
Moon In, Mayor of Buk-gu, said, “In the aftermath of COVID-19, coexistence between companies and workers is more important than ever,” adding, “We will continue to take the lead in forming a happy job community for all through the activation of labor-management-government-civil cooperation.”
