Kim, who joined Coupang last month, had recently been assigned to fieldwork and was performing delivery duties. A Coupang official said, "The delivery worker was still undergoing training after joining and was handling about 50% of the volume of a regular Coupangman," adding, "Our priority now is to comfort the bereaved family and do our best in the support procedures." Regarding the recent increase in delivery volumes, the official also stated, "The increased volume since COVID-19 is being managed by tripling the number of 'Coupang Flex' workers (part-timers who apply for delivery jobs and deliver using their own vehicles)."
