Taeyoungho Criticizes Kim Jongin Again... "He Should Apologize for the 'Root Theory' Before Taking the Role of Election Committee Chair"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] As former Democratic Party emergency committee chairman Kim Jong-in is being strongly considered as the future United Party's election committee chairman, former North Korean diplomat Tae Young-ho has once again referenced Kim's past interview remarks and demanded an apology.
On the 15th, former diplomat Tae stated on his Facebook, "The so-called 'root theory' that is causing controversy denies the rights and roles that people without roots in South Korea should enjoy in the Republic of Korea." Previously, former chairman Kim had referred to Tae in a media interview as "a person without roots in South Korea," pointing out that he was unsuitable as a district candidate.
In response, former diplomat Tae issued an official rebuttal and also criticized via Facebook on the same day. He said, "Former Chairman Kim Jong-in should apologize to the people first," adding, "Instead of making excuses, a clean apology would be gentlemanly. Without that, how can he ask the public to support the future United Party as the election committee chairman?"
He pointed out, "Former President Syngman Rhee and independence activist Kim Gu were also from North Korea, but no one has ever said they had no roots in South Korea," and added, "'Root theory' is a phrase that drives a nail into the hearts of North Korean defectors and displaced persons who live fairly with duties and rights as citizens of the Republic of Korea."
Former diplomat Tae emphasized that former chairman Kim denied the value of diversity enshrined in the constitution with a bloodline-based ideology, stating, "Bloodline-based ideology prioritizing birthplace is a closed-minded way of thinking that does not fit the era of integration and globalization. I will boldly fight against uniformity and closed-mindedness that deny diversity."
