Apple announced on the 13th (local time) that it will close all stores outside the Greater China region for two weeks from the 14th to the 27th due to concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to Bloomberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook stated on the company's website that "the most effective way to minimize the risk of virus transmission is to maximize social distancing and reduce (population) density."
Cook added, "At all stores outside the Greater China region, we will switch to a flexible work system," meaning "employees will work remotely whenever possible."
