[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] On the 14th, an additional 107 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 8,086. The number of patients released from quarantine increased by 204, totaling 714.

According to the data compiled by the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters for COVID-19 as of midnight on the same day, among the 8,086 confirmed cases, excluding the 714 patients released from quarantine and the deceased, 7,300 patients are currently in isolation receiving treatment. The death toll increased by 5 from the previous day, reaching a total of 72 deaths due to COVID-19. The total number of diagnostic tests conducted so far increased by 12,688 from the previous day, reaching 261,335 tests.

In Seoul, 13 new confirmed cases were added, bringing the cumulative total to 238. In Gyeonggi and Incheon, 15 and 1 new cases were confirmed respectively. The number of new cases in the metropolitan area was 29, increasing the cumulative total to 466 nearly two months after the first domestic case was reported in January. In Sejong, 6 new cases were confirmed, raising the total to 38.

Daegu still recorded the highest number of new cases with 62. The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Daegu reached 5,990, accounting for about 74% of the total confirmed cases nationwide. In Gyeongbuk, 6 additional confirmed cases were reported, increasing the total to 1,153. In Busan, 3 new cases were confirmed, raising the cumulative total to 103. There were no new cases reported the previous day in Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, Gangwon, Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, and Jeju.
