Iran reports 11,364 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 514 deaths
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Iran has reached 11,364.
On the 13th (local time), the Iranian Ministry of Health announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 1,289 (13%) from the previous day, reaching 11,364. The death toll rose by 85 to 514.
Since the first confirmed case and death were reported in Iran on February 19, this is the highest daily increase recorded.
The number of confirmed cases in Iran has increased for four consecutive days since the 9th, with over 1,000 new cases reported for two days in a row. Tehran, the capital, has about 3,000 confirmed cases, the highest among the 31 provinces.
The death toll has also been rising for four consecutive days since the 9th. With the rapid increase in deaths, the fatality rate stands at 4.5%, higher than the global average of 3.4%.
Iran ranks third in the world for the number of COVID-19 deaths and confirmed cases, following China and Italy.
