Gwangju City Selected as Leading Local Government for Housing Upgrade Support Project
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 13th that it has been selected as a leading local government for the Housing Upgrade Support Project to assist the relocation of non-residential dwellers by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
Since last year, the city has conducted a full survey to identify the demand for relocation to public rental housing among non-residential dwellers, and applied for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's public project last month to secure the budget. It was selected after the project plan review and expert advisory meetings.
Accordingly, a total project cost of 200 million KRW will be invested to carry out the project by the end of this year.
The project implementation areas include Jungheung-dong, Sinan-dong, Jungang-dong, Usan-dong, and Yongbong-dong in Buk-gu, all of which are densely populated with old gosiwon, yeoinsuk, and other non-residential dwellings where housing welfare projects are urgently needed.
The Housing Upgrade Support Project provides on-site close support for all processes from housing consultation to moving into and settling in rental housing for non-residential dwellers who are unfamiliar with housing welfare information or find it difficult to handle the public rental housing move-in process alone.
The city plans to utilize local welfare capabilities such as Buk-gu Office, Gwangju Urban Corporation, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), and social welfare centers to provide visiting consultations to discover those wishing to relocate to rental housing and support customized services linked to self-sufficiency and care.
