Hwasun-gun "Supporting Flower Farms"... Launches Flower Purchase Campaign
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Young-gyun] Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gu Chung-gon) announced on the 13th that it has launched a flower purchasing campaign to support local flower farmers who are struggling due to the impact of COVID-19.
Flower farmers are facing a double hardship as flower consumption has sharply declined and prices have dropped due to the cancellation and reduction of various events amid the spread of COVID-19, at a time when they should have been enjoying peak demand during graduation ceremonies, entrance ceremonies, and various anniversaries.
Ahead of White Day, the county launched a ‘Give Flowers’ campaign and collected purchase requests from public officials, who bought 620 bouquets of Alstroemeria and Freesia grown by local flower farmers.
The Agricultural Technology Center is promoting the ‘One Table One Flower Movement’ and has placed flowers on every table in office spaces such as the center office, microbial culture room, soil testing room, and agricultural machinery rental office to create a pleasant office environment and encourage flower consumption in daily life.
