Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Requests Churches to Cooperate with Social Distancing Measures
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] On the 12th, Park Yang-woo, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, visited the National Council of Churches in Korea and the Christian Council of Korea in Jongno-gu, Seoul, requesting the Korean churches to actively participate in social distancing measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On that day, Minister Park expressed deep gratitude for the many Korean churches that have cooperated with government policies by switching to online worship services and taking the lead in sharing to overcome the community crisis.
He emphasized that although the spread of COVID-19 seems to have temporarily slowed down, it is still too early to be optimistic, and with cluster infections occurring in call centers and welfare facilities, careful judgment and cooperation from the religious community regarding refraining from religious gatherings and social distancing are more necessary.
