Sijo Poet Isangbeom Wins the 8th Iseolju Literary Award
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The Korean Writers' Association announced on the 12th that the 8th Lee Seol-ju Literary Award winner is Lee Sang-beom, a sijo poet (photo, poetry collection 'Drinking Green Tea (綠茶)').
Poet Lee Sang-beom was born in 1935 in Jincheon, Chungcheongbuk-do. He debuted in the literary world after being recommended three times by 'Sijo Literature' in 1963, winning the New Artist Award top prize in 1964, and winning the Chosun Ilbo New Year's Literary Contest in 1965.
He served as president of the Korean Sijo Poets Association, chairman of the Sijo Division of the Korean Writers' Association, representative of the Korean Sijo History, and president of the Poseok Literary Society. He has received awards such as the Jeong Un Sijo Literary Award, Korean Literature Award, JoongAng Ilbo Sijo Grand Prize, Yukdang Literary Award, Lee Ho-woo Sijo Literary Award, Garam Sijo Literary Award, Gosan Literary Award, Baum (Forest) Literary Award, and the Yushin Work Special Award. His publications include 26 volumes such as poetry collections 'Star,' 'Autumn of the Shrine,' 'Hwaeom Field (100 Representative Korean Poems),' 'Sky-colored Lamp Lighter,' and 'Drinking Green Tea.'
The Lee Seol-ju Literary Award was established to honor the literary spirit of poet Lee Seol-ju, promote the development of Korean poetry and sijo literature, and inspire poets' creative motivation.

The award is hosted by the Korean Writers' Association and sponsored by the Chwiam Scholarship Foundation and Sajo Industry. The prize money is 20 million won. The award ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. on the 16th of next month at the House of Literature in Seoul.
