Gimcheon-si Suspends 20s Female Public Official Involved in Drunk Driving Accident
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Gimcheon City in Gyeongbuk announced on the 12th that it has suspended a female public official from her position after causing a controversy due to a drunk driving traffic accident.
Gimcheon City public official A (27 years old, female, grade 8) was booked without detention after crashing into two parked cars while driving her own car in a heavily intoxicated state on a road in Sineum-dong around 10 p.m. on the 10th.
At the time, her blood alcohol concentration was 0.16%, which corresponds to license cancellation. The police canceled A’s driver’s license and notified Gimcheon City of the drunk driving incident.
Gimcheon City explained, "Due to the emergency work situation caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), we decided to promptly suspend her position to strictly discipline the drunk driving accident."
