LVMC Holdings Launches Laos' First Automotive O2O Business
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] LVMCHoldings announced on the 12th that it will actively expand its presence in the Laos market through GMS (Greater Mekong Subregion), a company holding a complex license for car auctions, rental cars, and wholesale and retail, which it acquired in Laos last December.
Currently, the Laos automobile market is conducted offline only through showrooms by all car companies including LVMCHoldings and Toyota. While LVMCHoldings has been selling cars through directly operated stores and dealer networks in major cities nationwide, the most effective method has been SNS marketing utilizing smartphone users on platforms such as Facebook.
Among the Indochina Peninsula countries, Laos has a very high mobile phone penetration rate and smartphone user base compared to neighboring countries. Based on this, LVMCHoldings is starting online sales in earnest to pioneer the first automobile O2O business (Online to Offline) in Laos.
Through a self-developed online automobile market platform, the company plans to provide services that allow easy searching and purchasing of new and used cars via smartphones and computers. As of last year, Laos had 550,000 registered vehicles, with used car transactions increasing annually. According to the company, with the newly developed platform, not only LVMCHoldings’ vehicles but anyone owning a car can register their vehicle on the platform anytime by paying only a transaction fee to sell it.
A company official stated, "Although the used car market continues to grow, consumer distrust regarding the transaction process and quality is high, which we see as a key success factor for the business." He added, "There is a method that latecomers cannot imitate. Vehicle owners can only register online if their cars are certified at nationwide AS centers and performance inspection stations operated by GMS before registration, which will enhance brand awareness and reliability."

Additionally, based on its experience in car auctions, GMS plans to operate a separate auction site on the online platform, providing services that allow one-on-one transactions and enable vehicle owners to auction their cars to multiple buyers to achieve better prices. A company representative emphasized, "LVMCHoldings has maintained the number one market share in the Laos automobile market for over 20 years because it secured sales and service networks nationwide ahead of competitors." He continued, "By expanding online sales services for the first time in Laos at a time when smartphone penetration is widespread and consumer demographics are diversifying, we can gain a greater advantage over competitors." He added, "Our goal is for all people in Laos to download the GMS application and not only buy and sell but also create and share a culture related to automobiles together."
