Seongnam City Implements 'Assembly Ban' to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will ban gatherings in major areas within the city starting from the 12th to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
From this day, Seongnam City announced that gatherings will be prohibited in areas including in front of Seongnam Medical Center in Sujeong District, around Save Zone, near Jungang Market, the Geumgwang 1 District housing redevelopment project area in Jungwon District, the Jung 1 District housing redevelopment project area, around Moran Market, near Seongho Market, in front of Seongnam City Hall, around Sangdaewon Market, and in the Bundang area near Yatap Station, Seohyeon Station, Sunae Station, Jeongja Station, Migeum Station, and Pangyo Station.
This measure is based on Article 49 of the Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act, which allows local government heads to restrict or ban gatherings to prevent infectious diseases.
The city will ban gatherings until the COVID-19 crisis alert level is lifted and will impose a fine of 3 million won for violations.
The city posted this information on the city hall website and sent official letters requesting cooperation to ban gatherings to Sujeong, Jungwon, and Bundang police stations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

A city official stated, "With confirmed COVID-19 cases occurring in the area, citizens' concerns are growing," and added, "We ask for cooperation with these measures to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and to protect the health and safety of citizens."
