Dongjak-gu, Hygiene and Safety Management of Children's Play Facilities
Implementation targeting 44 children's playground facilities in parks and green spaces until December... Infection prevention disinfection using specialized equipment for COVID-19 and other diseases, installation inspection, and regular facility inspection
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) will implement "Hygiene and Safety Management of Children's Play Facilities" until the end of December to create a safe play environment for children and parents.
The facilities under management include a total of 44 locations: ▲9 neighborhood parks ▲26 children's parks ▲8 other parks such as village yards ▲1 stream, among which 12 are sand playgrounds.
First, the district will conduct hygiene inspections to create a clean sand play area.
The district cleans various foreign substances and animal excrement in the sand daily and cooperates with specialized institutions to test for the presence of heavy metals and parasite eggs.
In particular, to prevent various diseases such as COVID-19 or zoonotic infectious diseases, the district performs ▲high-temperature sterilization ▲ozone hydrogen sterilization ▲antibacterial sterilization using specialized equipment more than four times a year.
Additionally, the district conducts "installation inspections" of newly installed play facilities at a total of seven locations, including four children's parks?Kkamangdol, Eunhasu, Taeyang, and Chamsae?and three village yards?Yangji, Family, Dohwa?to investigate ▲compliance with safety distances between play facilities ▲installation suitability ▲presence of cushioning packaging for safety.
For play facilities in 19 children's parks, including Gogudongsan Playground, a "regular facility inspection" is conducted once every two years focusing on ▲facility damage ▲flooring damage ▲existence of gaps where body parts could get caught.
Furthermore, the district conducts monthly safety inspections at least once a month on other children's play facilities, addressing minor issues through self-maintenance and planning future repairs through small-scale maintenance projects for items requiring specialized skills.
Kim Won-sik, Director of the Parks and Greenery Division, said, "We will create a play environment where children and parents can feel safe through thorough hygiene and safety management of children's play facilities," and added, "We ask everyone to follow hygiene rules such as handwashing to prevent COVID-19 infection."
