Jangseong-gun to Pay Full 5.3 Billion Won Agricultural and Fishery Public Interest Allowance in First Half of This Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Oh Gilsu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 11th that it will pay the full amount of 5.3 billion KRW in the public interest allowance for farmers and fishermen in the first half of the year to revitalize the local economy, which has been stagnated due to the spread of COVID-19.
The county originally planned to pay 300,000 KRW each in May and October for the public interest allowance for farmers and fishermen, but due to the impact of COVID-19, it will pay the full amount in two installments in April and May to support farmers and local small business owners facing difficulties.
The public interest allowance for farmers and fishermen is a policy implemented for the first time this year to address rural issues such as population decline and aging and to promote sustainable rural development. To revitalize the stagnant local economy and commercial districts, the full amount of the allowance will be paid in the local currency, Jangseong Sarang Gift Certificates.
The gift certificates worth 5.3 billion KRW to be paid as the allowance correspond to 52% of the total amount of local currency issuance planned by the county this year (10.3 billion KRW).
It is expected that early payment of the gift certificates, which can only be used within Jangseong, will revive consumption activities in the region, centered on traditional markets and small business owners.
