BMW Korea Donates 800 Million KRW with Official Dealers to Overcome COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] BMW Group Korea and its official dealers announced on the 11th that they will donate 800 million KRW to the Community Chest of Korea (Fruit of Love) to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and overcome the crisis.
This donation was prepared to quickly overcome the national disaster situation caused by the rapid increase in domestic COVID-19 confirmed cases. The donated funds will be used to purchase personal hygiene products such as protective suits and daily necessities for medical staff, medical supplies, masks, and hand sanitizers to minimize community spread.
BMW Group Korea will not stop at a simple donation but will provide continuous support through the BMW Korea Future Foundation. Once the situation stabilizes, the BMW Korea Future Foundation plans to prioritize the regions of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, which were heavily affected, by organizing its main projects, ‘Mobile Junior Campus’ and ‘Hope Sharing School,’ to help normalize children's education.
Meanwhile, BMW Group Korea established the BMW Korea Future Foundation in 2011 to fulfill its responsibilities as a corporate citizen and has been carrying out various social contribution activities. Since the foundation's establishment, cumulative donations have reached approximately 32 billion KRW by 2019, which is the highest level in the domestic imported car industry.
