March 20 'World Water Day' Ceremony Replaced by Government Award Presentation Ceremony
Government Commendation Ceremony Attended by 16 Awardees and Over 40 Government Officials
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The Ministry of Environment announced on the 10th that, due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), instead of holding the '2020 World Water Day' ceremony on the 20th at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, it will hold an award ceremony for water management contributors at the Government Complex Sejong.
The Ministry of Environment has held a commemorative ceremony every year on March 22, World Water Day. However, as concerns about the spread of COVID-19 increased, including campaigns for 'social distancing' to prevent infection, the event was reportedly scaled down.
Accordingly, about 40 people, including 16 water management contributors and government officials, are expected to attend this year's government award ceremony.
