Kim Seongsu, Director of the Science and Technology Headquarters, Visits COVID-19 Research Site in Daegu
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] On the 10th, Kim Seongsu, Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Headquarters at the Ministry of Science and ICT, visited the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Advanced Medical Industry Promotion Foundation to inspect the current status of research and development (R&D) related to COVID-19 and the operation status of research facilities and equipment, and to listen to on-site opinions.
The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Advanced Medical Complex was established in 2010 with the goal of building a global R&D hub with the highest capabilities in the fields of compound new drugs and information technology (IT)-based medical devices. As a national research facility, it operates over 350 research equipment for new drug and medical device development.
This on-site visit was arranged to gather opinions on the "role of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Advanced Medical Complex in responding to national infectious diseases such as COVID-19" and related budget issues.
