O Jin-su, CEO of Samhwa Paint Industrial, Reappointed for Third Term... Shareholders' Meeting Agenda Passed
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] Oh Jin-su, CEO of Samhwa Paints Industrial, has succeeded in his third consecutive term. This is interpreted as recognition of his contributions to last year's performance improvement and various technological developments.
According to Samhwa Paints Industrial on the 10th, the agenda to reappoint President Oh Jin-su as CEO was passed at the regular shareholders' meeting held at the headquarters in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province. CEO Oh will be able to continue management activities for new business expansion and sustainable growth for the next three years.
Born in 1959, CEO Oh graduated from university and joined Samhwa Paints Industrial in 1996. After serving as head of the Management Support Headquarters and director of the Management Planning Office, he was appointed executive director in March 2014, becoming a professional manager. He was promoted to vice president in 2016 and to president in 2018.
Notably, as a former salaryman, he contributed to management innovation across all areas including organization, business, and strategy at Samhwa Paints Industrial, rising to president after 22 years with the company. He enjoys strong trust from employees within the company.
CEO Oh led performance improvements last year. Due to increased paint sales, the consolidated financial statements recorded sales of 540.3 billion KRW, a 3.1% increase from the previous year. Operating profit rose 42.7% year-on-year to 11.2 billion KRW. Cost reductions through alternative raw material development, increased overseas market sales, and stabilization of production at Daelim Chemical, acquired in 2018, contributed to the improved performance.
Samhwa Paints Industrial was established in April 1946. It operates in the paint and chemical product manufacturing sector as well as the IT sector. In addition to domestic production facilities and a dealership distribution network, it has established local subsidiaries in China, Vietnam, Malaysia, and India, actively targeting overseas markets.
This year marks its 74th anniversary. Since last year, it has promoted the brand slogan 'Life Canvas,' contributing to the spread of color and culture in various industries such as construction, automotive, mobile, and pets. It also plans to expand its 'Petterior' business.
