LH Selects Winning Design for Gwacheon Gwacheon District Urban Architecture Integrated Competition
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo In-ho] LH announced on the 10th that it has selected the winning design for the integrated urban architecture master plan for the Gwacheon Gwacheon District, the second announced district of the 300,000 housing supply plan in the metropolitan area.
The grand prize winner was the design proposal by the Sia Plan Architects Consortium, based on the concept of 'Irang and Gorang.' The consortium consists of Sia Plan Architects, Into Engineering Urban Architects, Donghyun Architects, and Urban Platform.
The integrated urban architecture plan focuses on establishing an urban master plan that encompasses urban planning, architecture, and facilities from the urban planning stage. Based on this, urban planning such as land use plans and architectural plans are decided.
The Irang and Gorang concept was highly evaluated for emphasizing 'communication' throughout the entire space. According to LH, Irang in the city is a space where the density of facilities such as life and workplaces needed by the city is filled, and Gorang is conceived as a space connecting nature within the city.
The company (consortium) selected as the grand prize winner will be granted the priority negotiation rights for the master plan and pilot complex design of the Gwacheon District. The Gwacheon Gwacheon District (including Gwacheon-dong and Juam-dong in Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi Province) was announced as the second district of the 300,000 housing supply plan in the metropolitan area on December 19, 2018.
Based on the selected grand prize work, LH plans to prepare the master plan for the Gwacheon Gwacheon District within this year by collaborating with experts and related organizations in various fields such as urban and architectural planning, environment, and transportation. Subsequently, the district plan will be established by next year.
