China Reports Sharp Drop in COVID-19 New Cases to 19 and Deaths to 17 (Update)
[Asia Economy Beijing=Special Correspondent Park Sun-mi] In China, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases and deaths added in one day on the 9th were limited to 19 and 17, respectively.
On the 10th, the National Health Commission of China (NHC) announced that as of midnight, the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases in China was 19. Among the 19 cases, 17 were reported in Wuhan, Hubei Province, known as the origin of COVID-19. The remaining 2 were newly reported imported cases from overseas, with 1 in Beijing and 1 in Guangdong Province.
The number of new confirmed cases in China has been continuously decreasing after dropping below 100 to 99 on the 6th, then 44 on the 7th, 40 on the 8th, and 19 on the 9th. This indicates that the spread of COVID-19 is calming down across China.
The number of new COVID-19 deaths also decreased to 17, all of whom were patients in Hubei Province.
So far, 80,754 people in China have been confirmed with COVID-19. Among them, 59,897 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, and 3,136 have been recorded as deaths. Currently, 17,721 confirmed patients are receiving treatment in hospitals.
The total number of reported imported COVID-19 confirmed cases, including the newly reported 2 cases, is 69.

Outside mainland China, in the Greater China region, a total of 170 confirmed cases have been reported: 115 in Hong Kong (60 discharged, 3 deaths), 10 in Macau (10 discharged), and 45 in Taiwan (15 discharged, 1 death).
