"Sign Up for Budget Phones at Convenience Stores" Hello Mobile Launches 'Unlimited 33 USIM'
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] LG HelloVision Hello Mobile announced on the 10th that it has launched the ‘CU Anshim USIM 11GB (unlimited data, voice, and text)’ plan and started selling it at CU stores nationwide. By expanding the USIM lineup available at local convenience stores, they plan to enhance the accessibility and perceived benefits of budget phones.
The ‘CU Anshim USIM 11GB (33,000 KRW)’ is a virtually unlimited plan that offers data, voice, and text at about half the cost of typical carrier plans. It is the same configuration as Hello Mobile’s steady seller product, popular among heavy data users in their 20s and 30s, nicknamed the ‘33 plan’ or ‘half-price unlimited USIM.’ This plan uses the LG U+ network, and the existing KT network unlimited USIM product with the same base fee (The Good Data USIM 10GB) is also available at CU stores.
The subscription process is simple. Customers can visit a nearby CU convenience store to purchase the USIM, then complete the subscription through the direct mall or activation center. It offers the convenience of simply swapping the USIM while keeping the existing device and number, with no contract obligations. Additionally, when using affiliated cards (Hyundai Card or Lotte Card), an extra discount of up to 20,000 KRW is applied based on the previous month’s spending, reducing the monthly communication cost to as low as 13,000 KRW.
Along with the new product launch, a special promotion has been prepared. First, all new subscribers to the popular ‘CU USIM 1.5GB 150 minutes (9,900 KRW)’ will receive an additional monthly discount of 3,960 KRW. As this is the best-selling product in the CU lineup, the reduced monthly fee to around 5,000 KRW is expected to significantly help customers save on communication costs. Furthermore, the first 1,000 customers who purchase and activate a Hello Mobile USIM (regardless of plan) at CU stores will receive a premium tumbler as a gift.
