Minsaengdang, Conflict Over Proportional Alliance Party... Park Juhyun "Cannot Delay Any Longer"
Bareunmiraedang Faction 'Opposed' vs Daehan New Party and Pyeonghwa Party Factions 'Conditionally Support'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] The Minsheng Party is experiencing a 'discord' over participation in the proportional representation coalition party. While the Bareunmirae Party faction is clearly opposed, the Alternative New Party and the Peace Party factions are advocating conditional support. It appears that the Minsheng Party, after the three-party merger, has failed to achieve a chemical union and is once again heading toward factional conflict.
Kim Jeong-hwa, co-leader from the Bareunmirae Party, stated at the Supreme Council meeting on the morning of the 9th regarding the proportional representation coalition party, "The proportional representation coalition party, which betrays its own principles and even the cause of political reform, will become the grave of the Democratic Party of Korea," adding, "The Minsheng Party will definitely eradicate this unconstitutional, illegal, and anti-democratic satellite party."
On the other hand, the Alternative New Party and Peace Party factions are predominantly in favor of considering participation in the proportional representation coalition party. Park Ji-won, a lawmaker from the Alternative New Party, said on KBS Radio's 'Kim Kyung-rae's Strongest Current Affairs' that "Personally, I am in favor, and senior lawmakers such as co-leader Yoo Seong-yeop and lawmaker Cheon Jeong-bae have said they would support it on the condition that the Democratic Party does not nominate proportional representatives."
Park Joo-hyun, co-leader from the Democratic Peace Party, issued a statement in the afternoon regarding the internal conflict, saying, "The electoral coalition is not only to find a way out for the Minsheng Party but also to drive out the tricks of the Future Korea Party and to prevent the revival of the Park Geun-hye impeachment faction, which has long been a wish of Honam, so this is an issue that can no longer be delayed," adding, "There are demands from lawmakers regardless of the three-party origins."

Co-leader Park said, "The proposal I officially made is that the Democratic Party should give up proportional representation and that a broad electoral coalition should be formed in the third zone, not between the two major parties," adding, "I did not attend the Supreme Council in protest against the leadership that reversed the agreement with the small business group, and I expressed that I am open to any choice in order to respond quickly and actively to the upcoming electoral coalition."
