Governor Lee Jae-myung Criticizes Police Bureaucratic Administration... Concerns Over Mass Layoffs of Security Guards
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, criticized the police's announcement that starting from June, apartment security guards performing tasks other than security duties, such as cleaning or parking enforcement, will be subject to crackdowns for violating the Security Services Act, calling it a "typical desk administration."
On the 9th, Governor Lee posted on Facebook, "This is a typical desk administration that could lead to mass layoffs of security guards who are already struggling," and urged, "Please discuss more thoroughly on-site and collect opinions before implementing."
Earlier, the National Police Agency sent official letters to police stations nationwide at the end of last year, instructing them to issue administrative warnings to apartment and other multi-family housing management companies to comply with the obligations under the Security Services Act regarding security duties by May 31 of this year.
Accordingly, police stations in Chungnam, Daejeon, Incheon, and other areas have recently issued such warnings to apartment complexes within their jurisdictions.
