Seongnam City Opens 'Helpline' for Reporting Public Officials' Corruption and Misconduct
[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province opened an anonymous reporting channel called 'Help Line' on the city hall website on the 9th to prevent misconduct and corruption among public officials.
The Help Line is an anonymous reporting system operated by linking to an independent external professional institution's site.
The reporter's IP address is not stored and cannot be traced, allowing reports to be made without concern about identity exposure.
Reportable cases include bribery and entertainment, involvement in vested interests, mediation and solicitation, embezzlement and misuse of public funds, improper budget execution, and budget waste.
Anyone, including citizens and public officials, can report through the Seongnam City website (Open Mayor's Office → Eun Soo-mi Hotline → Public Official Corruption Anonymous Reporting 'Help Line') without separate membership registration.
When a misconduct report is received, the content is immediately forwarded to the mobile phone and email of the city hall audit officer, who investigates and handles the related matters.
Reporters can access the Help Line system to check the processing results after verifying the receipt number and password they set, and can communicate with the audit officer anonymously.
