According to AFP news agency, as of noon on the 6th (local time), the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Spain was counted at 374. This is an increase of 111 cases from the previous day, marking the highest number of new cases added in a single day. The death toll also rose to a total of 5.

Spain's health authorities decided to close more than 200 elderly care centers for one month as the number of confirmed cases increased, mainly centered around elderly care centers in the capital, Madrid. The Madrid regional government explained in a statement, "Elderly care centers have been found to be particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, which led to this decision."
