On the 6th, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha emphasized this during a COVID-19 briefing held for the diplomatic corps in Korea at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building.
Minister Kang introduced South Korea's diagnostic testing capacity along with drive-through testing conducted at 50 locations nationwide, the smartphone self-diagnosis app, and the procedure of three temperature checks before departure. She requested, "I hope you maintain trust in South Korea's approach to responding to the COVID-19 crisis, explain the thorough measures South Korea is taking to your home countries, and advise them not to impose excessive measures."
She added, "In an interdependent world, people and goods move," and "This is how we have prospered, and I hope it continues."
The briefing was attended by diplomatic envoys from 112 embassies and international organizations. Forty-seven ambassadors from countries including Harry Harris, the U.S. Ambassador to Korea, and Stephan Auer, the German Ambassador to Korea, participated.
This was the second briefing held for the diplomatic corps in Korea, following one presided over by Deputy Minister Kim Geon on the 25th of last month. Considering the seriousness of the situation, Minister Kang presided over this session personally.
