Korean Art Dealers Association and Seoul Auction Host Online Charity Auction to Support COVID-19 Relief
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The Korea Gallery Association and Seoul Auction are jointly hosting an 'Online Charity Auction to Support Victims of the Novel Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19)'.
The charity auction will feature a total of about 70 works, including pieces from member galleries of the Korea Gallery Association, collectors' collections, and works directly donated by artists. The auction will start at 0 won, and the final winning bids will be fully donated to the Daegu Red Cross and then delivered to Daegu City Hall to be used as donations for medical support in areas severely affected by COVID-19. There will be no buyer's premium upon winning a work.
Artists from Daegu such as Lee Kang-so, Choi Byung-so, and Lee Bae, as well as art veterans like Kim Chang-yeol, Kwon Soon-chul, and Lee Wal-jong, have directly donated works for this auction. Additionally, the Whanki Museum and Professor Yoo Hong-jun, Chair Professor at Myongji University, also participated in the donations.
Choi Woong-cheol, president of the Korea Gallery Association, stated the purpose of the event: "Although the entire cultural sector is facing difficulties, we wanted to create an opportunity to help and encourage each other in the best way we can."

The online auction will sequentially close from 2 p.m. on the 13th on the Seoul Auction website. A preview will be held from the 7th at the Seoul Auction Forum Space in Pyeongchang-dong, Jongno-gu, and the works can also be viewed online.
