COVID-19 Cases Increase by 309 to Total 6,593 (Update)
On the 6th, 119 paramedics responsible for transporting COVID-19 patients at the old Duryu Water Purification Plant in Dalseo-gu, Daegu, are undergoing disinfection.
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] On the 6th, about 300 new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were additionally identified in South Korea. Following an increase of 518 cases in one day, more new cases were confirmed from midnight to 4 p.m. on the same day, bringing the total number of domestic patients to 6,593.
According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters for COVID-19, 309 additional cases were confirmed on this day. Since 190 new confirmed cases were identified in one day on the 22nd of last month, a three-digit increase trend has continued for fifteen consecutive days. If additional cases confirmed after the afternoon are added, it is highly likely that statistics showing an increase of about 400 to 500 cases will be announced on the 7th as well. Although detailed regional statistics have not been disclosed, considering the trend so far, it is estimated that new cases have increased mainly in Daegu and the Gyeongbuk region.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters announces patient statistics twice a day. At 10 a.m., they report the figures compiled from midnight to midnight of the previous day, and at 5 p.m., they announce the confirmed cases that occurred from midnight to 4 p.m. of the current day.
