Elementary School Cleaning Staff Charged for Stealing Masks and Hand Sanitizers
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kang Juhee] Cleaning company employees who were cleaning an elementary school were caught by the police for stealing masks and hand sanitizers from the school.
The Jinju Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 6th that five cleaning company employees, including Mr. A (55), were booked on charges of special theft.
They are accused of stealing masks (360 pieces), hand sanitizers (135 bottles), and non-contact thermometers (9 units) worth approximately 6 million won from the infirmary of an elementary school in Chojun-dong, Jinju City, around 8:30 a.m. on the 28th of last month.
It was confirmed that they were employees of the cleaning company called in to clean after window construction at the elementary school.
During the police investigation, they reportedly stated that they stole the masks and other items for personal use.

The police have recovered about 100 masks out of those stolen, and it is understood that most of the remaining items were either used personally or shared with family members.
