Certified for Top Disaster Response Capability... Secured 100 Million Won in Prize Funding
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] During the 7th term of the local government, Jeollanam-do Boseong-gun prioritized the safety of its residents and achieved the remarkable feat of being selected for the Safety Jeonnam Realization Project promoted by Jeonnam Province for two consecutive years.
On the 6th, Boseong-gun announced that it had won the ‘2nd Dasan Safety Award’ hosted by Jeonnam Province for the second year in a row.
The ‘Dasan Safety Award’ is a safety evaluation introduced by Jeonnam Province, created to realize ‘Safe Jeonnam’ by encouraging various institutions and organizations in the province to actively practice the benevolent spirit emphasized by Dasan Jeong Yak-yong in his book Mokminsimseo regarding disaster prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
This evaluation was conducted targeting 22 local governments, public institutions, private organizations, and companies within the province. The local government assessment comprehensively evaluated the achievements and performance of four evaluations in 2019: △Disaster Management Evaluation, △Safety Culture Movement Evaluation, △Safe Korea Training Evaluation, and △Disaster Prevention Project Evaluation, by the Jeonnam Province evaluation committee.
In particular, Boseong-gun was highly praised for its efforts in various fields of safety administration, including disaster safety drills resembling real situations, safety education for all residents, and disaster and safety ZERO projects for the maintenance of disaster-risk areas.
Kim Cheol-woo, the mayor of Boseong-gun, said, “In a situation where the safety of residents is threatened by COVID-19, receiving an award in the safety field makes us feel a greater sense of responsibility,” adding, “Since this achievement was made possible by the unity of Boseong residents, private and social organizations, related institutions, and public officials, we will continue to do our best to prioritize residents’ safety and strengthen disaster response capabilities and safety policies.”
