KCC to Develop Measures for Activating Terrestrial UHD Broadcasting
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] The Korea Communications Commission announced on the 6th that it aims to establish measures to promote terrestrial ultra-high-definition (UHD) broadcasting by July.
To this end, on the same day, a Terrestrial UHD Promotion Policy Task Force was formed, led by Standing Commissioner Heo Wook, with participation from terrestrial broadcasters (KBS, MBC, SBS, etc.) and research institutions (KISDI, ETRI), and held its first meeting.
There have been repeated calls for a review of the 2015 terrestrial UHD promotion policy due to changes in conditions such as the stagnant broadcasting market in the National Assembly and broadcasters, and the overseas UHD promotion status.
