COVID-19 Cases Continue to Rise in Gyeongbuk with 122 New Infections in One Day
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] In Gyeongbuk, the daily increase in confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) reached a record high of 122 as of midnight on the 6th.
According to Gyeongbuk Province, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases as of midnight on that day was 927, an increase of 122 from midnight on the 5th.
More than 100 infections were reported in about 20 welfare facilities such as nursing homes. The number of confirmed cases at Bonghwa Pureun Nursing Home increased to 49.
There were 44 additional Shincheonji church members, bringing the total to 420. They account for 45.3% of all confirmed cases.
Gyeongsan, which has the second highest number of confirmed cases after Daegu, added 57 cases, increasing the total to 404. Shincheonji church members account for 261 cases, or 64.6% (261 cases).
The recent daily increases in confirmed cases in the province are 91 on the 2nd (as of midnight), 50 on the 3rd, 89 on the 4th, 80 on the 5th, and 122 on the 6th, showing a continuing upward trend.
Among these, the number of additional Shincheonji church members was 41 on the 2nd, 75 on the 3rd, 59 on the 4th, 52 on the 5th, and 44 on the 6th. In Gyeongsan, more than 50 new confirmed cases have been reported almost daily recently.
