Gu Ja-yeol, Chairman of LS Group, Special Request to "Carefully Consider Win-Win Plans for Partner Companies Affected by COVID-19"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] Koo Ja-yeol, chairman of LS Group, has specially instructed each company to closely monitor the situation of local partner companies and to devise win-win measures to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) crisis.
Chairman Koo posted an encouragement message to employees through the company intranet on the day, stating, "Our affiliates' workplaces in Gumi, Onsan, and other areas are adjacent to the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions currently suffering from pain. Although we have donated funds hoping to be of some help to the medical staff and volunteers who are fighting the virus daily, it is far from sufficient," he said.
Chairman Koo emphasized, "The COVID-19 situation has increased uncertainty in achieving this year's management plans. It will be difficult for the time being, but I hope you will face it with extraordinary determination compared to usual. After passing through this difficult tunnel, a new moment of opportunity will surely come. Let us keep alive the spark of hope to overcome the crisis."
He also sent encouragement and support to all employees, including those on the front lines. Chairman Koo expressed gratitude, saying, "I fully understand that our LS employees are also experiencing a very difficult time. Especially, it is no exaggeration to say that LS, which specializes in manufacturing, is enduring this difficult period because there are employees who are sweating and guarding the sites even at this time."
Regarding COVID-19 response guidelines, he requested, "Until COVID-19 disappears and stability is restored, all employees should actively comply with the quarantine authorities' guidelines and thoroughly manage personal hygiene to protect themselves, their families, and ultimately the entire nation together. Employees who are pregnant or have elderly family members to care for should actively utilize telecommuting, leave, etc., and actively participate in the 'social distancing' campaign by refraining from business trips, group activities, and dinners for the time being, and using smart work methods such as video conferences."

He added, "At the company level, related systems and personnel are being fully mobilized to make telecommuting always possible. Assuming that the economic downturn and COVID-19 situation may prolong, we will increase investments in cloud work environments and quickly assess the impact on business to prepare for the future through ongoing activities such as cost reduction and curtailing unnecessary investments."
