"Let's Raise Female Leaders"... Shinhan Financial Group Selects 67 for 3rd Class of 'Shinhan SheHeroes'
[Asia Economy Reporter Haeyoung Kwon] Shinhan Financial Group selected 67 members for the 3rd class of its female leader development program, 'Shinhan She-roes,' on the 6th and will begin full-scale training starting this month.
Shinhan She-roes is the first female talent development program in the financial sector, launched in 2018 under the leadership of Chairman Jo Yong-byeong, who is committed to nurturing female leaders to lead the future at the group level. The program has produced a total of 76 female leaders, with 27 in the 1st class and 49 in the 2nd class. Among them, 13 women, including Wang Mi-hwa, Head of Division at Shinhan Bank, and Jo Kyung-sun, Vice President, have been appointed as female executives and heads of departments.
This year, the program expanded its scope and scale beyond Seoul and the Gyeonggi area to include provincial regions, selecting a final group of 67 female leaders. Experts from various fields will be invited to provide coaching and strengthen mentoring capabilities for these participants.
The 3rd class of Shinhan She-roes will run from April to October, implementing monthly capacity-building programs such as group mentoring and various academy programs to broaden management insights. In November, a conference will be held to share the training outcomes.
Through Shinhan She-roes, Shinhan Financial Group plans to continuously expand the pool of female leaders within the group both qualitatively and quantitatively.
Although Shinhan Financial Group has held the Shinhan She-roes launch ceremony annually on International Women's Day, this year’s event was canceled to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Instead, Chairman Jo sent congratulatory video messages to the selected female leaders and gifted rose-patterned scarves in celebration of Women's Day.
In his video message, Chairman Jo said, "I deeply appreciate Shinhan’s female leaders who are performing wonderfully in both their organizations and families despite difficult circumstances," and urged, "Please make Shinhan She-roes not just a training program but a place where female leaders share their dreams and experience the joy of growth."
