[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education announced on the 5th that it has started YouTube classes for the first time nationwide to prevent learning gaps among students due to the postponement of school openings at all levels caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The real-time YouTube classes are being conducted by math specialists in the province using digital textbooks and math teaching aids, with each grade receiving one hour of instruction starting from 10 a.m. on the 3rd. Since the first class, the number of participating students has rapidly increased, and the number of replays has exceeded 3,000, showing a strong response.
The Gyeongbuk Office of Education decided to provide operating expenses of 500,000 won per grade and 200,000 won per class for those wishing to participate in the YouTube classes. They also plan to share methods for conducting real-time YouTube classes and have experts directly assist with the operation.
